ADA Accommodation Testing Process

Students with documented disabilities approved through the PRCC ADA Office must contact the Testing Center at least 24-hours in advance of their scheduled testing appointment.

  • By contacting the Testing Center, the student will verify that the Testing Center can accommodate their needs. Appointment rescheduling or unexpected wait time may occur if the student does not adhere to the 24-hour contact policy. The 24-hour contact policy will be communicated to the student by the ADA Office.

    To ensure that all students receive accurate testing accommodations, no student will receive an accommodation without proper documentation submitted and approved through the PRCC ADA Office. It may be necessary for the student requesting additional accommodations to reschedule their appointment or test without the requested accommodations if the accommodations request cannot be confirmed or verified by the ADA Office.

    Fifty computers available for testing. Paper tests for colleges are also given in the testing center. The testing center is located in the Garvin H. Johnston Library.
    The Poplarville testing center administers test for:
    • Mississippi Virtual Community College
    • PRCC Traditional/Hybrid Courses (with approval from proctor)
    • Universities and colleges outside of PRCC (with approval from proctor and the student’s instructor)
    • Accuplacer Testing
    • Various tests for Career Tech
    • HiSET Testing (in the AE Testing Room in the GHJ Library)
    • GED Testing (in the AE Testing Room in the GHJ Library)


    Forrest County Campus:

    Thirty-eight computers available for testing. The testing center is located on the side of the Library in building 4.
    The Forrest County Campus testing center administers test for:
    • Mississippi Virtual Community College
    • PRCC Traditional/Hybrid Courses (with approval from proctor and the student’s instructor)
    • Universities and colleges outside of PRCC (with approval from proctor and the student’s instructor)
    • Paper tests for colleges are also given in the testing center.

    • Assorted Career Technical Exams

    There are 20 computers available for testing. There is limited testing for MSVCC at the Hancock Campus. Dates can be seen after choosing the PRCC Hancock Campus in SmarterProctoring.

    Non-PRCC individuals wishing to use the PRCC Testing Centers will adhere to the following courtesy guidelines. PRCC reserves the right to deny testing privileges, without prior warning, to anyone who does not abide by these courtesy guidelines.
    • Testers must report at the scheduled appointment time.
    • Those who are unable to report at the scheduled appointment time must cancel appointments at least four hours prior to the scheduled time.
    • No confrontational, threatening, unruly, or argumentative behavior will be tolerated.
    • Children are not allowed in any PRCC Testing Center or Library.
    • All other PRCC Testing Center rules must be followed.

    Testing Center Rules:
    1. I understand I am not allowed to have cell phones or any electronic devices used to retrieve or transmit information in the testing center.
    2. I understand I am not allowed to bring food or drink into the testing center.
    3. I understand I am not allowed to bring children into the testing center or in the Library.
    4. I understand I should dress appropriately. I understand I will be asked to remove headgear and any pocketed outerwear.
    5. I understand that I will be asked to present a valid photo ID to verify my identity. I understand that the name on my photo ID must match my name displayed in Canvas. The ID will be held by the proctor until you leave the Testing Center. Electronic IDs are not accepted.
    6. I understand that I will be recorded by surveillance cameras and computer monitoring software.
    7. I understand cheating will not be tolerated.
    8. I understand PRCC is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

    Appointments:
    If you do not show up for your appointment and do not cancel or reschedule prior to your appointment, you will be charged $25.00 per missed appointment. If you are an hour or more late, you will be charged $25.00 per appointment and may not be able to take the test due to test center closing time and test duration.

    Appointments are required for all tests and must be made a day in advance of the desired appointment time. If an appointment is made and cannot be kept, please be courteous to cancel that appointment.
    Students taking online classes via MSVCC must use SmarterProctoring to schedule an appointment. You can access SmarterProctoring by clicking on the SmarterProctoring button on the left menu within your online course in Canvas.
