Wedding Policies

  • All music to be used in the event must be approved by the College no later than two weeks before the ceremony.
  • If candles are being used, note that only mechanical candles can be used in decorations and candelabras. If the Unity Candle consists of regular wax candles, they must be the dripless-type candles, and the carpet must be protected against any possible drips. Candles will not be placed on, in, or be surrounded by any flammable materials. Candles must not be placed in the Chapel windows.
  • Decorations may not be attached in any way to the building or furniture. Pew markers may be used only if they are approved so as not to damage the pews. Flowers may not be placed on the musical instruments.
  • Only certain furniture in the sanctuary can be moved and college staff must move it.
  • No nails, tacks, staples, pins, adhesives, tape, or anything that will mar woodwork may be used.
  • Decorations must be removed immediately following the ceremony.
  • None of the instrument screen and only the center section of the prayer rail can be removed. Upon request of the user, it will be removed by College staff.
  • Photographers are asked to use discretion in taking pictures during the events and are warned to not stand on pulpit chairs, pews, or other furniture when taking pictures.
  • There are no facilities provided at the Chapel for receptions.
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the Chapel.
  • The College is not liable for any loss or damage to any items brought into the Chapel for use at events.
  • Only birdseed can be used for weddings and it shall be thrown only outside the building.
  • Pearl River Community College is tabacco free.
  • Alcoholic beverages will not be allowed at anytime or anywhere on College property.
  • The individual or family scheduling the event will be held liable for any damage to the carpet, furniture, building and/or grounds.
  • Members of a wedding party are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a manner befitting the atmosphere of a place of worship.
  • For a wedding, the user must have a wedding director.
  • Cell phones and/or pagers are not permitted in the Chapel at any time.
