Pearl River Community College once let a chance to keep its flickering playoff hopes alive in an MACJC doubleheader against Meridian Friday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.

The Wildcats played one of their best all-around games of the season in the opener, defeating the Eagles 11-3 in six innings, but were unable to seal the deal in the nightcap, as Meridian broke open a scoreless game in the late innings to win 5-1.

Pearl River improved to 6-4 overall; Alabama Southern dropped to 2-16.

PRCC softball features another winning season, playoff berth

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College had another successful softball season in 2016, a winning season along with another MACJC playoff berth.

But a season that began with tremendous promise fell short of expectations, as the Wildcats finished 24-23 and 14-14 in conference play. PRCC claimed the No. 8 spot in the MACJC playoffs, but was eliminated by top-seeded Jones County in two games in the first-round playoff series.
