Lady Wildcats overcome upset-minded Delgado

Pearl River Community College got all it wanted from Delgado Monday night in its women’s basketball non-division finale at New Orleans.

The 1-11 Lady Dolphins kept it close most of the way in a see-saw contest, but the Lady Wildcats finally prevailed 59-56, and they head back into South Division action at 7-1 overall.

PRCC led 16-10 after the first quarter, but was only ahead by two, 27-25 at halftime, and it stayed close throughout the second half.

Redshirt freshman Rehema Franklin (New Orleans) continued to lead Pearl River, scoring 24 points. She was 5 of 5 from the foul line and had 5 steals. Freshman Adyn Strickland (Saucier) added 12 points and 11 rebounds

The Lady Wildcats will get a stern test when they resume division play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday night against undefeated Southwest. The Lady Bears (10-0 overall) are 1-0 in division, while PRCC is 0-1.
